Roberts Rules Again
AUGUST 30, 2009, SNOQUALMIE, Wash. – Second-round co-leader – and long-time student of Jim Suttie – Loren Roberts birdied the final two holes to steal the Boeing Classic title Sunday and keep Mark O'Meara winless on the Champions Tour. Roberts shot a 7-under 65 in the final round and set a new tournament record at 18 under. He won earlier this season at the ACE Group Classic and the Senior British Open last month. His third shot on the 18th, from about 50 yards, bounced in the fringe, checked up and gently trickled behind the hole while O'Meara was on the driving range prepping for a potential playoff. Roberts prove once again that he is one of the greatest putters in the game as he used just 23 putts in his round and only nine on the closing nine holes! Everyone at the Jim Suttie Golf Academy congratulates Loren on another outstanding season.

Roberts Wins Senior British Open - Again!
SUNNINGDALE, England -- Loren Roberts, longtime student of Jim Suttie, won the 2009 Senior British Open, beating Mark McNulty on the third hole of a sudden death playoff. He also won in 2006. This win was his 10th on the Senior PGA Tour. Fred Funk also took part in the playoff, but was
eliminated on the first extra hole when he could only make par as
Roberts and McNulty birdied. The remaining pair parred the second playoff hole before Roberts clinched victory with another par at the next. Roberts, who won in 2006 at Turnberry, and Funk each shot a 67 in the final round. McNulty shot 64. The victory earned him a spot in next year's British Open at St. Andrews. "I'm looking forward to it already. It will be an honor to play there," Roberts said. Everyone at the Jim Suttie Golf Academy congratulates Loren on his most recent major victory!

Doc's Research Featured in Golf Digest
One of the major articles in the July 2009 Golf Digest is Why You Miss Greens, Our 2-Step Strategy.
The article has been in the works for nearly two years and required
months of research by Dr. Suttie with assistance from the researchers
at TrackMan – a world-class piece of data collection technology that
Doc has available everyday at his academy. (Give him a call to find out
how you can have your swing analyzed on TrackMan, too.)
The
article details the fact that most golfers simply can't control the
distances they hit their approach shots and that the reasons for this
are a combination of swing issues and equipment that only makes the
situation worse. Something that Doc has known for decades that
separates each level of player from the one below it, is the ability to
create better distance control throughout the bag.
In the
article, Doc offers up a variety of drills that will help you make more
solid contact, which is a big part of the problem. The equipment gurus
at Golf Digest also weigh in with equipment tips that can help improve
your results from that side of the equation too.
