Roberts Gets First Win of 2008
JUNE 29, 2008, EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (AP) -- Loren Roberts lived up to his nickname. Known as "The Boss of the Moss" for his deft putting, Roberts made a 29-foot, double-breaking birdie putt on the par-5 17th Sunday. That put him in front by two strokes in the Commerce Bank Championship and he went on to his first Champions Tour victory of the year. Roberts did bogey the closing hole but his 3-under 68 gave him a 12-under 201 total and a one-stroke victory over Nick Price and Lonnie Nielsen. The win in the $1.6 million event was the eighth on the Champions Tour for Roberts, the same total he had in his PGA TOUR career. He led all the way in earning the $240,000 first prize that moved him into third place on the money list with $1,151,093. Visit PGATOUR.com for more on Loren's win.

Kraft Wins First Official PGA Event
MARCH 23, 2008, RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- Greg Kraft shot a 70 to outlast Bo Van Pelt on the final holes, finishing 14 under for a one-shot victory at the inaugural Puerto Rico Open on Sunday. Kraft earned $630,000 -- more than he's made on the PGA TOUR combined since 2003 -- and has secured playing privileges through 2010. He closed in on the TOUR's top 50 money winners a decade ago and looked to be entering the prime of his career. However, he contracted an illness, Valley fever, during the 2002 Tucson Open. The disease is caused by a fungus that gets stirred up in soil and attacks the lungs. Kraft suddenly was losing strength and didn't know what was wrong. Doctors had trouble diagnosing the malady, even telling him he had cancer. Gradually, Kraft found his strength. This week in Puerto Rico, he rediscovered his championship game. Kraft has worked with Doc for the past year and everyone at the Jim Suttie Golf Academies is very happy to see Greg earn a much deserved victory. Go to www.pgatour.com for more on Kraft's win.

Suttie Launches LAW's Certification
In November, Dr. Jim Suttie, co--author of The LAWs of the Golf Swing, conducted his first LAWs Stage 1 Certification. The class was attended by 12 golf professionals from around the globe who spent two days in extensive training on the subtleties of the LAWs models for the golf swing. On the first day the class was shown how to identify the three main models of the LAWs methodology: Leverage, Arc and Width swings. Special emphasis was given to the hybrid swing which can be made up with unlimited combinations from each model. During the second day, the class was shown how customization of equipment fits so well with LAWS. Dr. Suttie then coached two beginners and showed how LAWs can fit all standards of golfers both male and female. On the final afternoon the attendees completed an exam and the participants were certificated as LAWs Stage 1 teachers. There will be further opportunities to attend a LAWs course in the future. These courses are open to all PGA professionals and carry 15 points towards your personal development program as recognized by the PGA of America. Future dates for certification of courses will be posted in December. Call 800-765-3838 for more information.
